Workshop & Hackathon: AI for Good

Dates: May 30–31, 2025
Location: French University in Armenia (UFAR), Yerevan

To mark its 25th anniversary, the French University in Armenia (UFAR) is proud to launch a forward-looking event dedicated to innovation, education, and societal impact: a two-day AI workshop and hackathon on the theme "AI for Good – Building Smart Assistants for Everyday Challenges."

This initiative is organized in collaboration with the University of Toulouse, the Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems (IIAP), the Union of Employers of ICT (UEICT), and Synopsys Armenia—partners who share UFAR’s commitment to academic excellence, technological advancement, and collaborative learning.

Day 1 – Workshop: From Algorithms to Assistance

Open to all participants
This introductory day will focus on understanding how artificial intelligence works—from the basics of machine learning to natural language processing—and how it can be applied to solve real-world problems. Participants will explore interactive demos, real AI use cases, and team-building activities in preparation for the hackathon.

Day 2 – Hackathon: Hack the Future

Open exclusively to students enrolled in Armenian universities
Working in teams of 3–6, participants will design and prototype their own AI-powered assistant based on one of the following domains:


- Environment,

- Education,

- Well-being,

- Accessibility.

Technologies such as Python, Hugging Face, and Google Colab will be used to bring their ideas to life.

Awards and Benefits:

- Top 3 teams will receive prizes

- Certificates will be awarded to all participants who complete the full event

- Participation is entirely free of charge

Judging Criteria

Projects will be evaluated by a panel of experts based on:

- Creativity & Relevance – Originality and societal value of the idea

- Use of AI Concepts – Application of fundamental AI tools and principles

- Teamwork & Presentation – Collaboration and clarity of communication

- Simplicity & Clarity – Usability and effectiveness of the prototype
